In 2018, after a turbulent business period, the Veldhuijzen van Zanten family sold the company to hands-on investor, Nimbus. The family culture is maintained, while the ambition, quality and entrepreneurship receive a boost. Three years on, Royal Van Zanten is ‘Back on Track’ and on its way to its 160th anniversary.
160 years, continuing to improve
Improvement has been present in the Royal Van Zanten DNA for 160 years. In the form of entrepreneurship, the documentation of experience and a passion for research & education by the Veldhuijzen van Zanten family. Maus van Staaveren learnt through interaction with others and constantly improved his business by trial and evaluation.
Van Zanten Breeding
Van Zanten Breeding, which is part of Royal Van Zanten, has played an active role in the international ornamental horticulture sector for almost 160 years. The company breeds cut flowers and pot plants and holds a strong position in cut flowers (Alstroemeria, Aster, Statice, Chrysanthemum and Bouvardia) and pot plants (Aster, Celosia, Limonium, Chrysanthemum and Multiflora). This position will be further expanded in the future. This is the result of continuously improving its genetics; generating synergies in breeding and propagation technologies; pursuing innovative marketing strategies and working closely with partners in the supply chain.
