Royal Van Zanten team plants 4 hectares of native trees in Uganda

1 Oct 2024

Last week, the Royal Van Zanten team took an important step towards a more sustainable future. On 27 September, 4 hectares of native trees were planted at our location in Mukono in Uganda. This initiative contributes to restoring biodiversity in the area and has a positive impact on both the environment and the local community.

Our team in Oeganda

Three years ago, we harvested the eucalyptus trees previously planted on this land, and the area has now been replanted with 1600 trees from 14 different native tree species. This shows that our commitment goes beyond our cultivation activities; we actively contribute to the well-being of both people and the planet.

This is not the first time we have taken action for nature. Two years ago, we carried out a similar project: “A tree for every employee.” Each employee planted a tree at our locations in Mukono and Wakiso. More than 700 colleagues in Uganda and 50 in South Africa planted 15 different native and local tree species, which provide shelter and food for indigenous wildlife.

We are proud of our team for enthusiastically embracing this project! With these initiatives, we aim to promote biodiversity in the region and set an example of sustainable land use. Together with our employees, we are working towards a future where our actions make a lasting difference—now and for future generations.
